First, let me say I love
this program. It has saved my butt several times.
I have AutoVer running on older laptops with no issues. I installed it on my new PC, but this time running as a service. I copied my settings over to the new PC but I got errors like this:
2015-08-07 08:19:52.236 T12 Info Config Loaded AutoVer.xml
2015-08-07 08:19:52.238 T12 Info Watching RTTP: \\susapp30964\f$\apps\RTTP\VB -> \\sustolfp02\mis094$\Bruce\LOF\PC\Backups\RTTP\
2015-08-07 08:19:52.266 T12 Info Folder not available \\?\UNC\susapp30964\f$\apps\RTTP\VB\
I thought perhaps there was a problem with the UNC paths, so I used the [...] button to find and click on them--no change. Then I created a share on the destination folder and gave Everyone full control over it changing the path to point to it. That worked, but will only
work if I have admin rights on the server in question--something I don't always have.
Apparently the problem was that the service is running under the local system account and not my own (naturally, since passwords can expire and you don't want the service to fail). Maybe I should have changed the user the service is running under or maybe that should be an option during installation.
I was also getting this error:
Warn AutoVer.ini write error Access to the path 'C:\ProgramData\AutoVer\AutoVer.ini' is denied.
Which I fixed by giving "Users" full control over this folder in Advanced Sharing.
Also, a very minor bug: when clicking on the [View Log] button, I get two copies of notepad showing the log file.
