Is is possible to rotate multiple backup media (i.e. USB disks) for redundancy in the event of h/w failure, etc. such that all disks would contain all the source data?

Or would there, for example with 5 USB disks rotated daily, be a 5 day "lag" between the most recent and the oldest backup?

I do this and it works well. I have two 1TB external drives that I mount to X: so that they show up in the same spot. On odd-months I back up to one drive, and on even-months I back up to the other, that way if one fails, I still have my data, albeit a month old.
